Our Story

In 2017, a group of eight women—yoga teachers and wellness practitioners of different backgrounds, ages, and stories—came together with a shared vision: to create a space rooted in community, accessibility, and authentic connection. At the time, there wasn’t a dedicated yoga studio in Rowan County, and classes were scattered across gyms and borrowed spaces. These women saw potential in an old upstairs room above the original Mean Mug Coffee location on South Fulton Street in Salisbury.  Armed with nothing more than vision, teamwork, and creativity, they transformed it into a community gathering place.  It was at this location our name was derived: So (South) + Ful (Fulton) = SoFul, and we hosted our very first class on October 23, 2017.

SoFul was born from collaboration and a belief that yoga should be affordable and welcoming to all. Each founder brought her unique skills, and together they built something greater than the sum of its parts. From the start, the studio pulsed with the energy of women supporting one another and of neighbors showing up for neighbors.

Now, eight years later, that spirit still defines who we are. SoFul has grown, evolved, and expanded, but our foundation remains the same: a community space where every body belongs, where practice leads to growth, and where connection fuels transformation. As we honor our roots in October AND near closer to the opening of our new studio in Kannapolis on November 3, we want you to know we're deeply grateful to you—our students—who have carried this vision forward.

You are the reason SoFul is still so full of light, joy, and love after all these years.

We are beyond grateful.
